Storytelling - Adult Dialogue - Mattvei Lapitsky
Adult Dialogue at 11 for June 18.
We'll have a special presentation from Mattvei Lapitsky, a Story
Teller from Close to Home, a part of a community wide effort to
facilitate sharing stories of homelessness. Here is some biographical
information about our story teller, Mattvei:
lost his home in 2009 following a health crisis. In 2011 and at age 61,
he was homeless for four months in Southern California. This followed a
formal college education where Mattvei earned a bachelor’s and master’s
in Engineering as well as an MBA. (Mattvei’s research is published in
the Journal of Biomedical Materials Research.) His career included
stints in nuclear fuel development, upper-level management roles in
industrial equipment corporations and 27 years of self-employed
hustling. This background forms the basis for his homelessness story
today and his warning entitled, "You ARE That Close: Why Half of Us Are
Easily Only 3 Months Away from Homelessness."
