Books recommended 6/12/16

Mark recommended these resources in his sermon this morning.

Terry Tempest Williams' newest book, The Hour of Land: A Personal Topography of America's National Parks, this book appears in the 100th anniversary year of the National Park Service.  It is a wonderful tour of Parks in our land and a beautifully written narrative of their meaning for us. I also recommended Sunday two books from the Official National Park Service Handbook series; one is The Civil War Remembered, and the other is The Reconstruction Era.  Both of these books tell stories that remain critical for the ongoing struggle of our nation to be united, including retelling the story of Reconstruction which has often been rendered in a way that serves political ends more than giving the truth, the whole truth.  These all are great resources and Williams book is especially opportune in this anniversary year for the Park Service.
